Types Of Liver & Kidney Function We Treat
- Liver function tests (LFTs)
Assess liver enzymes and function. Elevated levels indicate liver stress or disease.
- Renal function tests
Assess kidney filtration and waste removal. Elevated creatinine indicates reduced kidney function.
- Bilirubin assessment
Bilirubin elevation causes jaundice — indicates liver or red blood cell breakdown issue.
- Electrolyte panel
Assessment of sodium, potassium, and other electrolytes affected by kidney function.
When to Go to the Emergency Room Instead
Go to the nearest emergency room or call 911 if you or someone with you has:
- Severe jaundice with confusion (possible liver failure — go to ER)
- No urination for 8+ hours with severe swelling (possible acute kidney failure — go to ER)
- Vomiting blood or blood in stool with liver disease symptoms
If you are unsure, go to the ER. It is always better to be safe.
