When to Go to the Emergency Room Instead
Go to the nearest emergency room or call 911 if you or someone with you has:
- Object impaled in the eye (do not touch — go to ER)
- Sudden significant vision loss or vision changes
- Chemical burn to the eye (flush immediately with water for 15 minutes, then go to ER)
- High-speed impact eye injury (metal grinding, nail gun)
