Tetanus vaccination is administered at Reddy Urgent Care as part of injury and wound care when a wound carries tetanus risk and the patient’s vaccination status is uncertain or out of date. We do not offer routine tetanus vaccinations — only as part of wound care.

Types Of Tetanus Vaccination (When Indicated) We Treat
- Tetanus booster (Td)
Standard tetanus-diphtheria booster. Recommended every 10 years or following high-risk wounds.
- Tdap booster
Combined tetanus, diphtheria, and pertussis. Recommended if pertussis component not received recently.
- Post-injury tetanus prophylaxis
Given following wounds with tetanus risk regardless of booster date if high-risk injury.
When to Go to the Emergency Room Instead
Go to the nearest emergency room or call 911 if you or someone with you has:
- Signs of active tetanus infection: muscle spasms, jaw stiffness, difficulty swallowing (go to ER immediately)
- Wound with severe contamination, embedded foreign material, or suspected nerve/tendon damage
If you are unsure, go to the ER. It is always better to be safe.
