Find Nearst LocationOverview
Deep vein thrombosis (DVT) is a blood clot that forms in a deep vein, usually in the leg. It can cause significant pain, swelling, and redness and requires prompt assessment. Left untreated, DVT can travel to the lungs and cause a life-threatening pulmonary embolism. At Reddy Urgent Care, we offer on-site ultrasound to assess for DVT the same day you walk in.
Symptoms We Treat
- Leg swelling (usually one leg)
- Pain or tenderness in the calf or thigh
- Warmth and redness over the affected area
- Visible swollen or enlarged vein
- Leg heaviness or aching

Types Of Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT) We Treat
- Lower limb DVT (calf or thigh)
Most common type. Blood clot in the deep veins of the calf or thigh.
- DVT following immobility
Prolonged sitting (flights, bed rest) increases DVT risk.
- DVT following injury or surgery
Trauma or post-surgical patients have higher clot risk.
- DVT in pregnancy
Pregnancy increases DVT risk — prompt assessment essential.
When to Go to the Emergency Room Instead
Go to the nearest emergency room or call 911 if you or someone with you has:
- Chest pain or difficulty breathing alongside leg swelling (possible pulmonary embolism — call 911)
- Coughing up blood
- Rapid heartbeat with shortness of breath and leg swelling
If you are unsure, go to the ER. It is always better to be safe.
